Tips to ace the interview

  • Getting Started

Find out everything you can about the company, before you leave for the interview. Read through your resume once and think of suitable questions that the employer might ask you. Remember your task is to convince the interviewer and prove that you're the best fit for the position. Leave for the interview early to avoid getting delayed by traffic or any other reason.
  • Mind Your Nonverbal Communications

Always maintain eye contact during the interview as this communicates that you're earnestly listening. If you look away during the conversation it communicates low confidence level or lack of interest. True and genuine smiles convey that you are delighted about the interview. Avoid any artificial gestures and note that gestures should be very limited during the interview.
  • Time to Speak-up

No matter how much experience you gathered in the past, if you don't let the employer know about it, you won't get the job. For instance, if you are asked how many people you'd managed in your previous work place, don't just give the numbers and wait for the next question. Grab the opportunity, quickly start speaking about your team, roles and responsibilities you had and also tell your prospective employer about the targets that were set for your team and how quickly they were achieved. Thats the greatest way to define yourself to your prospective employer.
  • Leave a Positive Note

When the interviewer touches upon areas that you have no experience in, don't just leave it at that, think of related experience you may have and speak about it. You can always explain that you were using a different platform which was very similar to the one which the employer had referred to and try assuring that you will easily learn to use the other model. By accepting your inexperience upfront, you not only come across as an honest individual but you will also end the discussion on a positive note showing that you're willing to learn and go the extra mile.
  • Don't Panic

You have cleared the first round, so understand that the company feels that you are a suitable hire. There is no need for you to panic or be nervous just stay confident enough for the up-coming rounds. There are times during the interview when you might be asked tough questions to answer. Don't panic as it is only to test how well you can handle a difficult situation.
  • Interview is Drawing to a Close

If there is something related to your experience that was never brought up all through the conversation you can go a head and share it at the end. But be sure that's going to benefit and position you well. Also ensure that you ask questions and clarify your doubts. In the end remember job interviews are not difficult as long as you are well prepared for it.
